New Beginnings
While waiting all those many hours in the waiting room at the hospital this past week I was reminded of one of our Creator's most precious gifts. We were in the ICU waiting room so everyone sitting there had a loved one with a serious medical condition. As I looked in their sad faces I could see the worry and anxiety that they were feeling. Some had loved ones who would survive their medical emergency but some had loved ones that wouldn't. As I was sitting there thinking on these things all of a sudden I heard something come over the intercom system of the hospital. What was it? Why, it was music! Not just any music, but something that was very special. You see, every time a baby is born in that hospital they play Brahms Lullaby for all to hear! During one afternoon we heard it played four times and once it was even back to back so I think it was proclaiming the wonderful news that twins had arrived! As I heard this beautiful music my heart was filled with joy because it served as a wonderful reminder that our Creator gives us not only the gift of new life, but also the gift of hope, and new beginnings! Even though we will suffer pain and sadness and sometimes even loss, we will also rejoice over this most precious gift. The gift of life! Savor it, treasure it, and delight in every wonderful second of it!

Dear Susan,
That is so sweet of the hospital to play a lullaby when a baby is born. You have such a wonderful, positive attitude the Lord has given you. You can always find the good in a difficult situation. God bless you and yours. More hugs to you all.

Love,
Cathy

With our first four babies, our hospital didn't play lullabies when they were born. But for #5 (2004) and #6 (2006), my husband got to press the lullaby button right after they were born. I was still in the birthing room, but I could hear the lullabies over the loud speaker. Both times the joyful sound brought tears to my eyes...not only because the music celebrated the births of our little boys...but also because they were safely delivered and healthy...miracle, miracle! Praise the Lord!
I love the way you also perceived those lullabies as God's continued promise! I see it that way too!
Have a great week!

The father pushes the lullaby button at the hospital where our grandchidren are born. The little brothers and sisters and grandparents are thrilled to hear "their newborn baby's" song.
