What Has Become Of Us?
a.k.a. You're Kidding Me, Right?
I'll set the scene. Girl gets up in the early morning, stumbles to the kitchen to get her first cup of coffee, then sits down to hear the news. Top story on the Today show: David Letterman s*x scandal. CLICK............... Top story on Good Morning America: David Letterman s*x scandal. CLICK............... The CBS Early Show: David Letterman s*x scandal. CLICK...... Cable News: David Letterman s*x scandal. Girl turns off television in disgust and goes back to bed and pulls the covers over her head........

It's so funny, I thought the same thing last night as I was surfing through a few sitcoms on TV. Within a minute or two of checking each one, I turned the channel!
Even the commercials were terrible. I have a few favorites that I'll watch each week and then return to British mystery DVDs.
I remember David Wilkerson writing a book fifteen or twenty years ago where he said TV would get this way and people scoffed at him.
Hello Susan! I have to admit I watch too much TV. I really hate it and what it has done to our society. The media especially.....they go on and on and on and on. I think they are just starting to let up on Michael Jackson. :-) Now, there is DL and in a month or two there will be someone else
My mom wrote a little story about her life as a child without electricity. "In the good weather they all went out to play and in the winter they played games with a lantern in the middle of the table so they could see". Isn't that lovely?
When I was a little girl my folks always played cards with friends on Saturday night and all the kids would play together. Now, we all sit in front of the "Boob Tube" without having to use our imaginations or without our friends or family around. (I think Brenda's comment from David Wilkerson about "TV getting in the way" was right on.)
Remember that Lucy and Desi couldn't even get into the same bed on their show? Now even the previews of the upcoming shows are X-rated.
UH! OH! I think I was on my soap box. I had better get down and go shut my TV off. Love, Debbi
So true! It's either that or the whole Jon and Kate debacle.
Since when is everything about a celebrity's life newsworthy?!
Ha! So sick of hearing about the Letterman scandal and equally sick of hearing about Kate & John!
I know, I am 52 and I just can't believe how television has evolved in my lifetime. It is comforting to know that others are on the same page as myself.
