Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Where Art Thou?

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it! For the last week or so I have been itching to get in the kitchen and do some baking. Autumn and baking just seem to go together, don't they? There is only one little problem, though. How am I going to make pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars, and pumpkin cookies without pumpkin??? Yep, that's right. There is absolutely NO LIBBY'S CANNED PUMPKIN to be found in my city!!!! Can you believe it? I've been to 2 WalMarts, Kroger, Food Lion, and another local store. The label for the Libby's canned pumpkin is there, but the shelves are completely bare! Boo, hoo..... Oh well, I guess either there is a great pumpkin shortage I didn't know about, or everybody in the city is busy baking pies:) Have y'all had this problem, too?

We have plenty of pumpkins in Tennessee. Are you talking about canned pumpkin too?

I agree with you, I like cooking and Autumn and cooking do go hand in hand. :)

Have a blessed Sunday.

I had the same problem here in upstate New York! Last week I wanted to make pumpkin bread and I was told that there is a shortage due to poor growing conditions. I did finally find some at a different grocery store, I bought about 4 cans! I had no idea about the pumpkin shortage till I went to buy it

I heard about a pumpkin shortage also. I guess the wet, cool summer many of us enjoyed was terrible for pumpkins, watermelon and catalope. The news has been warning everyone here (Indiana) that pumpkins will be expensive this fall.

Hope you find your pumpkin soon!

I bet you'll stock your pantry when they are back on the shelves. :)

I know what I'll be stocking up on next.

I've seen the same thing happen here with various foods. It always makes me wonder if there is some huge bake sale going on... am I missing a party?

My husband was a quality assurance engineer and he tells me it is all because stores keep no extra inventory anymore (called Just In Time Management... or something like that).

By the way, I heard there may be a sugar shortage.

You know, I've had a big problem finding most things I need at Walmart. Hopefully they will get things straight soon and we will all be cooking happily along. :)

And I LOOOOVE pumpkin things! YUM!
