Placing it on the cake plate adds some much needed height and gives it more of a "presence," I think. After scattering a few fall leaves and gourds I think it looks so much better!

That is beautiful! Have you started making pumpkin bread etc..? I know it is still hot but with my house decorated for fall I have been in the mood to make pumpkin bread and homemade soup. :)

Lovely, Susan! It's amazing how little things make a BIG difference! You and I think alike...I use my inverted cake dome as a table 'pretty'! :) I am planning on doing a post on autumn centerpieces later today...I'll have to link to yours!
