These Shoes Are Made For Walking . . . .

Well, let's make that driving! Tomorrow morning (Wed.) Miss Bonnie and I are hopping in the car and driving 525 miles to visit my family in Kentucky. As most of you know, my Mom has Alzheimer's and was no longer able to live in her home. The decision has been made to go ahead and sell the house so my sisters and I and will be spending the weekend going through 35 years of memories, trying to decide what to keep, donate, etc... I'm sure it's not going to be easy, but it needs to be done. Closing a big chapter in one's life is never easy, but as they say, "the only thing that's constant is change." We will try to focus on all the happy memories that we made there and remember with love and appreciation how our dear Mother really made our house a home. I have always strived to do the same and it is my prayer that one day my children will be able to say the same thing about me. Then, Lord willing, Miss Bonnie will be a mother, and on and on it goes. What a legacy to leave behind for our children and our children's children!
We will be getting home on Monday evening so I won't be posting until Tuesday. To make things "interesting" while I'm gone I thought I would have a little contest. To find out about just scroll down.
Much love,
Susan P.
I'm sure you're asking yourself, "why in the world did Susan P take a picture of her feet?" Well, y'all know me and pink shoes! I had to take a picture of them because they just make me smile :o)

Susan, I just got home from caring for aging parents so I know how hard it is when you live far away. I like your idea to concentrate on all the happy memories.

It must be very hard on you to have your mother go through Alzheimer's. The house project sounds like a task that will take more than a weekend. As you say, lots of memories, but probably lots of sadness in having to let it go, and knowing your mother is slipping away. I spent five years going almost every day to the nursing home where we moved my mother at age 89. It was a tiring but rewarding experience. I don't know how I could have done it long-distance. You are lucky you have family that lives close to your mother.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. That is a heart-wrenching situation.
My daughter has shoes just like yours, only with a different pattern. They are too cute! :)

You and your sisters will go through many happy memories and have time to share many happy times. Enjoy the time spent with them and know your mother is with you also.
