Show and Tell Friday
Favorite Christmas Ornament

I posted about my favorite Christmas ornament last year but I'm going to again but it is and always will be my favorite! I have treasured this ornament for over 42 years and I can remember very vividly the day I received it and how excited I was. I was seven years old at the time and it was my "first real big girl ornament!" I was so proud of it! Ever since then I always make sure the ornament is the first one on the tree and when it is time to pack everything up I take extra care in wrapping it up.
The ornament is made from an eggshell that has been wrapped in beautiful velvet fabric of royal purple and gold. The front of the egg ornament has been cut out and inside you can see an angel playing a mandolin. The inside of the ornament has been sprayed with a glittery gold spray paint. The opening is surrounded by beautiful gold trim and the ornament is hung on the tree with a gold cord. This ornament is priceless to me because it brings back so many wonderful Christmas memories and also because it was made by a dear friend of our family.

What a lovely ornament. I remember that when I was growing up I had a neighbor who made eggshell decorations like that. They were beautiful. She gave my mother a couple that sat on little pedastals. I had forgotten all about them. I guess they were packed away over the years and never brought back out.

God bless,
Tammy

Susan, this is absolutely beautiful, and I can see why it's priceless to you! It reminds me of my eggshell ornament that I posted about last week, but on a much grander scale! LOL What a treasure, and how well you've taken care of it!
Isn't it funny, even our favorite ornaments (eggshell) show our similar tastes!!?? Kindred spirits for sure!
Have a blessed day!
Hugs,
Amy
