What Is True Love?

I think in our culture we have a very romanticized notion of what true love is. We conjure this picture up in our heads of being swept off our feet, candy and roses, gazing longingly into one an other's eyes, etc. Of course, all that is very nice, but is that really what true love is all about? I was the recipient of real true love these last couple of days. A nasty bug decided to visit me and it didn't want to leave:o( It wasn't pretty, y'all. It was the "I think I'm dying" kind of sick. Oh, what a comfort it is to be surrounded by family who loves me, "throw up" and all!

These past couple of days showed me that true love can be found in many different ways. It's found in a special trip to the grocery store for ginger ale and crackers. It's found when every few minutes somebody is coming to check on you. It can be found in worried, sympathetic looks, clothes being washed , medicine being dispensed, and even cold rags for a weary forehead. It can be found in the coaxing to take a least "one little sip" so dehydration doesn't set in to coming downstairs in the middle of the night to see if I'm okay. It can even be found in purring little kitties trying to cuddle up with you to to give comfort and sad little puppy dog eyes wondering if Mama is going to be okay.

Although this was a pretty rotten few days I come away from it feeling so incredibly blessed. I will take the "real" kind of true love any day over candy and roses. As a matter of fact, I do believe that although Mr. P didn't look "longingly" into my eyes, he most certainly looked "lovingly"

This post is dedicated Mr. P and Miss Bonnie, thanks for showing me the meaning of real true love.

Hi Susan,
Sorry you've been sick, but so glad to hear you're feeling somewhat better. My family had a virus last week, and it was no fun. I agree with you...what a blessing to have those who truly love us...for better or for worse! LOL
Take care and and get lots of rest!
Hugs,
Amy

I am sad to know that you have been ill. But PRAISE THE LORD for your sweet family!! Isn't it awful that it takes hard times to cause us to remember just how much we care for our family? I'm not just talking about the one that is sick, either. The ones that do the caring suddenly remember how very much they do love the one that is ill. Perhaps being sick isn't so bad after all if it causes us to turn to the Lord and makes us remember our loving family, too!!

His,
Mrs. U
