Porch Pleasures

Oh, how I love my back porch. Mr. P worked so hard last summer building it and this year we are certainly enjoying the fruits of his labor. This is where I spend my quiet time in the morning ~ what a joy it is to come out early with a cup of tea and listen to the birds chirping happily as they are readying for their day! We have also enjoyed many meals out here with family and friends and I'm sure there will be many more over the course of the summer. Yesterday I spent the morning "sprucing" the porch up a bit. Everything had a nice green coat of pollen on it (yuck) so with a little bit of "elbow grease" it looks as good as new!

I love wind chimes! Not the harsh loud ones ~ the ones that play a beautiful delicate melody. Such a lovely, peaceful sound.

Here is a shot of my favorite chair. All I need is a cold drink a good book!

This is my dragonfly begonia. I love the unusual quality of it ~ I think it is so lovely. The only problem I am having with it is that my kitty cats love it, too! Grrr.... They love to take the blossoms off of it:o( When I go outside and see the blossoms off and then look at them they give me this "innocent" look that says "who me, I didn't do it. I think it was the dog!"

If you look closely in the backyard you can see a raised platform. That is Mr. P's next big project ~ he is building himself a shed.

I love Boston ferns ~ I have always wanted to have them but never had a place to put them until now!

My variegated coleus

Thanks for visiting with me!

I lol at your comment about the cats blaming the dogs. It reminded me of the polaroid commercial where the dog keeps getting blamed for tearing into the garbage (when it's really the cat who's doing it) and he takes a picture of the cat in the garbage and the people realize that it wasn't the dog after all! he he he

Your porch is so lovely and your furniture is beautiful. If I lived closer, I'd come on over so we could sit and chat over some good 'ole Southern sweet tea (LOVE it!)

Bless ya,

your porch looks so inviting! The color you picked out is a cheerful yellow, and it looks like a place I could sip iced tea for hours.
I also liked your prse story. How true! Thanks for inspiring me!

Susan ~ your porch and backyard both look delightful! Your begonia is beautiful although I've never heard of a dragonfly begonia. I used to have an angel wing begonia; they look the same so I'm wondering if different people have different names for the same plant? What a nice place you've made to relax with beauty around you!
