The Sweet Life
My heart is full and I feel blessed beyond measure. Your love and prayers literally wrapped me up like a nice warm blanket and your friendship has been like a soothing balm to my soul. Friends are truly one of life's sweetest blessings! Please know that I am doing much better and I plan on resuming my "regular" posting tomorrow.
If you notice throughout my blog there seems to be a constant theme of finding joy and beauty in the simple things. Everyday I try to take delight in the ordinary because once you do you suddenly realize it isn't so "ordinary" after all! Blessings surround us every day, we just need to open up our eyes and hearts to receive them. They can come in many different forms: a sweet smelling newborn baby, a dear loved one's face that is filled with wrinkles and eyes that have clouded over, but upon closer inspection you begin to realize that with each one of those wrinkles comes great wisdom and although the eyes might be cloudy they can see far more "clearly" than most. Blessings and beauty can also be found in jelly glasses filled with dandelions, blue skies, even bluer oceans, birds seranading you with sweet melodies, snowcapped mountains, and the fragrance of a honeysuckle bush as you pass by. These are all "love" letters to us from God, they surround us everyday, it is entirely up to us whether we wish to receive them or not. I want to leave you with a favorite quote of mine from Robert Louise Stevenson. I think there is much wisdom to be found in his words.
"The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life." - Robert Louis Stevenson

Susan, this post is so beautiful, and made all the more so because you're feeling better.

I love the quote you shared; especially the end. . .

Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
