Apple Pie Gone Bad - "REAL BAD!!!"
Lest any of you out there in blogland think my house is always clean, my meals are always perfect, I always have a smile on my face, etc. .etc. .etc... you get the picture, I want to erase all those silly notions away by showing you the wonderful Apple Pie I baked for Thanksgiving. Remember, this is just a small example of my many "goofs" and "imperfections!" There are many, many more I just usually don't take pictures of them!! Please let it be known that my house is NOT always clean, my meals AREN'T always perfect, and I sometimes even frown! I even buy the frozen pies by Mrs. Smith's instead of making homemade! (Shh, don't tell!) So, here goes. The apple pie was SUPPOSED to look like this:

BUT, for some reason when I went to bake it I lost all my brain cells and took it out of THIS:

laying the pie ALL BY ITSELF on the cookie sheet! YIKES~

CONESEQUENTLY, the apple pie came out of the oven looking like THIS:

Mmmm, YUMMY! IF YOU THINK THIS IS BAD, YOU OUGHT TO SEE MY OVEN!!

Bless your heart! That sounds like a "senior moment" even though you're not old enough to have one. :-) You probably needed to light one of your yummy-smelling candles afterward, too. You gave me a good chuckle.

LOL! This reminds me of a funny story. Just after Hubby and I married we had guests over for dinner. I made a chicken pot pie with a lovely pastry top. I even decorated it with pasty leaves and flowers. As I proudly took it out of the oven the guests were "ooohing" and "aahhhing" and I felt so proud. Then it slipped from my potholders and landed upside down with a big splat on my oven door!!! We all stared in silent horror and then laughed until the tears came. Thankfully my oven door was clean and we were able to salvage most of the meal. It still tasted good, but I never have lived that one down.

*giggle* I'm so glad you were able to laugh and share this story with us. These things happen and how we react says a lot.

I love your blog by the way - I only just recently found it. :)

LOL!!! I always say if you don't learn to laugh at yourself, you spend a lot of time in tears! Oh, Susan, thanks for sharing this. We all have those moments and I'm glad you see the humor in it.

Oh man. LOL I'm so glad other people do things like this. I'm sure it wasn't too funny at the time, though.

Things happen! I haven't gone that far, but my Uncle's wife did once. They invited us to eat with them, just before they married. She had baked a pie at her house and brought it over to his where we were to eat that night. She cut us all a piece, and when we began to bite into it, there was paper on the bottom. She had used the frozen pie crusts, and forgot to take the paper out of the bottom one, the one she used to make the pie. We laughed so hard, we cried! That was truly a senior moment, and we laughed about that until she passed away.

On one hand you had me giggling with some of your cooking "faux pauxs" and on the other hand you tried so hard to make me feel better I wanted to reach through the computer and give you a big hug!! Y'all are the best:) You are invited to come to my house and have some pie anytime! LOL*** (BTW,there's a bakery close by!) Sshh!
