Friday Favorite:
Homemade Treasures Made From The Heart!
I love being surrounded by treasures and memories from the past. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful memories. This little corner of my home is located in my guest room.

This Sunbonnet Sue quilt was made by my great grandmother. I have had it ever since I can remember. I use to love to wrap up my dolls up in it! Some of the scraps in the quilt I recognize because they were the scraps leftover from my great grandmother's dresses. If I close my eyes I can still see her wearing one of those dresses over 40 years ago!

This deacon's bench was made by my late father-in-love. He made it for Mr. P and I when we were newly married. We had very little money at the time and furniture in our home was very scarce. He proudly made this as a gift to us and we have cherished it ever since. Since those early years we have accumulated many fine pieces of furniture but nothing as fine as this bench. Something made with love is absolutely invaluable. It will always hold a special place in our home.

This memorabilia box was made by my Mother for my grandparent's 50 anniversary. It contains many wonderful family heirlooms. I am proud to have it displayed in my home now!

Those are all so lovely. I've been wanting to try a sunbonnet sue quilt block sometime soon. I just love yours, and it's so much more special when it's made from pieces of past outfits.

All of your lovely things are truly treasures. I have a quilt that my grandmother made and it is very special to me. I feel her love and energy wrapped up in it.
I really like the idea of that beautiful shadow box.

I'm enjoying your blog so much. The Sunbonnet Sue quilt is lovely and reminds me of one my mother made for me before she passed away. When she found out her time was short, she made my sis and me each a farewell quilt. Mine was the Sunbonnet Sue. . .

Thanks for sharing!

Amy, that's exactly why I love it so much!

Jennifer, thanks so much for the well wishes:) I will definitely pass them along!

Mary, I'm so glad it made you smile! Now I'm smiling:)

Clarice Kelli, and Mrs. Blythe, thank you so much for your kind words!

Mrs. Staggs, that's exactly how I feel about the quilt and my great-grandmother!

LaTeaDah, oh my gosh, your comment touched me so. What a wonderful, touching thing for your Mother to have made a farewell quilt for you and your sister. I know it must be one of your greatest keepsakes.
