Goofs & Gadgets
Goofs........boy, did I make a big one yesterday. I spent the afternoon getting everything together to make homemade potato soup. There was a lot of chopping to do to prepare. Let's see, there was celery, onion, potatoes, and carrots. Fortunately, it was no big deal, because I got out my handy dandy (hand held) chopper that my Mom gave me around five years ago. I LOVE IT!! It chops in seconds, no mess, no fuss, no onion tears;) I would have to say that out of all the items in my kitchen, this is hands-down my favorite.
Well, imagine my surprise (horror) when I unloaded the dishwasher this morning and part of the chopper was missing!!!! What??? Oh, no!!!!!!! I almost started to panic, I LOVE THIS THING..... So, then I go back in my mind trying to retrace my steps, wondering if I even put that part in the dishwasher to begin with. I tore the kitchen up searching for it, and then even lowered myself to go searching through numerous, filthy garbage bags in hopes of finding it. (UGH) I know, I know, it's disgusting, but you don't know how much I love this thing. It's 3:30 now so it has been MIA for over 24 hours. I'm starting to give up hope..............
Okay, I'm being a tad bit dramatic, I know! I just really love my chopper, and it got me to thinking that this would be a good idea for a post. What is your favorite kitchen item, that if lost, you would go digging in the garbage to find? In other words, what's the one item in your kitchen that you don't want to live without? I can't wait to see your answers! Meanwhile, the hunt continues............

The first thing that came to mind was my Kitchen Aid mixer. I might have to cry if it broke! I also have a Granny Parer knife that I would probably dig through the trash for.
Hope you find your missing part.
My favorite kitchen gadget or appliance is my kitchen aid mixer. My son bought it for me and it has become my very favorite thing in my kitchen. I have wanted one for years.
Did you find your missing piece?
I think my "can't do with out" attachment is to my garlic press! It's great and you don't smell like garlic after you have used it.
Oh my goodness! Maybe it is in the soup! Love your blog and your sweet, funny stories. Judy
My favorite is just a plain ol' serrated bread knife that I gave my daughter years ago. I use it for everything--not just bread! I told her one day I had no clue what I'd do when she leaves home and takes it with her. And that sweet girl said she'd leave it for me! :)
Well, I'd hate to be without my big electric skillet or my toaster oven or my grill pan, but it's not likely any of them would ever get lost in the trash, lol. I would, however, dig through the trash to find any of my good knives, should one go missing. :) I do hope you find the missing part of your chopper.
I'd be lost if something happened to my bread machine. I've gone on many a hunt for the missing kneader blade. Haven't had to look through the trash yet, but I would!
I love my biscuit cutter!! I have had it for ages and it is special to me!!
I sure hope you find it!
I would have to say my hand held shredder from Cuisinart. Kurt gave it to me for Christmas one year and I use it almost every day!
I have dug through the trash for a piece of an appliance that didn't seem to be around. I feel your pain.
Hope you find the missing part.
God bless.
Hi Susan~ How have you been? Hope you find that missing piece!
Hugs,
Michelle :)
Hi Susan, I'd have to say my kitchen chopper from Pampered Chef...I use it all the time and would be lost without it! Good luck in your search.
My chef's knife!!!!!! If I lost it, I'd HAVE to go buy one immediately!!!
And I have been known to "accidentally" throw things away. I've tossed several measuring cups and a beloved paring knife were things I KNOW I threw away and didn't get to the trash in time. Sigh. I have learned to pay more attention. I just start talking and, well, don't notice what I'm doing! OH MY!!
I hope you find it soon!!
