Blessings Jar
"Count your blessings, name them one by one."

I have been wanting to make a "blessings" jar for quite awhile. Yesterday, I finally got around to doing it. I thought it would serve as a wonderful reminder for all the blessings, big and small, that our family has been given. All I did was plop a ribbon on an empty container and wrote the word BLESSINGS on it. Next to the jar I will keep a pad so that whenever someone has a blessing to write down the paper will be right there ready to be used! On Thanksgiving Day I plan on emptying the jar and my family will each take turns reading the blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us this year. One of the main reasons I'm doing this is that I wanted to cultivate a more grateful heart and also to always be cognisant of who those blessings come from. I have an idea that our jar is going to be filled to overflowing very soon!

I started one of these this year in January with the same idea of reading them on Thanksgivin, having no idea that this would be one of the hardest years of my life. Despite the fact that its been so difficult, the jar is getting full. I will be so grateful for this jar full of blessings this Thanksgiving, as we will be gathering together and grieving the loss of two loved ones. Though those chairs will be empty, the full jar will remind us that God's blessings are still many.

I hope you enjoy yours!

That's a fantastic Idea!!! hope it will be everyday fuller than the day before! To keep open our eyes on what the Lord does for us is so great.
