A Father's Hands

Mr. P is teaching Gerry how to shingle a roof.
As I was working in the kitchen I looked out my window and I saw this most wonderful sight... my two favorite guys working side by side. The proud wife/mama in me just had to sneak out and take a picture to capture the moment! Mr. P's father taught him the skill of carpentry and now Mr. P is teaching our son. More importantly than that, Mr. P has taught him how to be a man of great character, strength and integrity. I know that one day my son will pass this on to his son, as well. Whether we realize it or not, what we do today can greatly impact future generations. This impact can be felt through words (spoken and unspoken) as well as deeds (done and undone.) What a tremendous responsibility and privilege God has given each of us!

Hands are a bond between father and son
A tool that one teaches the other to use
Needing to pass on the passion, or lose
Doing what long generations have done
Sowing the seeds of what they have begun.

A picture that I am sure you did enjoy. It sounds like your husband has been a good role model in all ways.

What a lovely moment you have captured! Thank you for sharing.
Did you ever find out what your "mystery" item was?

Oh, it is wonderful to see a father and son working together, even though Jason is not my dad's son, he has taken him in like he is (as has my mom) and I love to see them doing things like this too. I'm so glad they can have such a close relationship and he can continue to pass down the carpentry skill. In the end, it's family that will always be there:)

It is wonderful to see father and son working together! We've enjoyed that recently with our sons-in-love. I'm glad the rough times are over with your son, and your relationship is growing closer. Family is what it's all about.

Susan, I enjoyed this post so much. It thrills my heart when my son and hubby work side-by-side. Reading your sweet words brought those feelings to mind. Your's and Mr. P's love of your children is obvious and so precious to behold.
