"Oh, no, I broke my toe!"
Yep, I broke my toe . . . . all I can say is a big "OWIE." I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking and I rammed my toe into the bedpost really, really hard. . . . can I just say, I'm really not a wimp when it comes to pain, but I have to admit I might have shed a few tears because it really, really HURT;O) Now my toe is twice the normal size and is black and purple! I'm talking "real attractive!" The wedding is in seventeen days and I have to wear these . . . .

Now, here comes the dilemma . . . I'm usually a sneakers and sandals "girl" and am not really used to wearing high heel shoes. Not to mention the wedding will take place outside which adds a whole other challenge to my inexperienced high heel shoe feet. My plan was to "practice" walk in my backyard over the next two weeks but that is NOT GOING TO BE HAPPENING NOW!!Oh well, y'all know how I love my glue gun ~ I'm thinking maybe sequins and sneakers! LOL Whatcha think?

Aw, poor Susan. I'm so sorry. The practicing is out for sure. We just pray the pain will go away, and that lil toe will look pretty for the wedding. And feel good too. :-) Uh, oh, what about the dancing. Might need some lower shoes?

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear this, Susan! I'm pretty sure I've at least sprained my baby toe very badly (maybe even broken it!) so ((((hugs))) to you! I think sneakers with sequins would be very cute! :0)

OUCH! I'm sorry to hear about your broken toe. I've never had that experience but I've heard it is soooo painful!

Just think...you could start a new fashion trend among mothers of the groom with your sequined sneakers! LOL

I'll be praying for you!

{Hugs}

Oh, Susan, that stinks. I've broken my big toe before (thankfully the only thing I've broken) and it HURTS! Mine swelled up too, and eventually my toenail fell off, lol. I limped for about a week. I sure hope it's feeling better by wedding time, but if not, I think the sequined tennis shoe idea is lovely;o) Feel better!

Hi Susan, I'm so sorry about your toe! I've done that twice, and it REALLY hurts! The first time, I went to the ER and had it "set" -- the second time I didn't and I've regretted it, because it grew back crooked. So you might want to at least "splint" it against the other one.....
Hope it feels better SOON!

Ohhh!! You poor thing!!!I'm so sorry to hear about your toe!
Have you ever seen the Cosby show where Claire broke her toe? She "dressed up" her shoes. I think that's a great idea. Fix them with your glue gun and sequins, and don't let it put a damper on a wonderful celebration. You'll make some great memories!
Bless your heart, and great big hugs from me!

Oh no! I hope you heal quickly. Sneakers or sandals all dolled up will be just fine.

Who knows, maybe you will start a new trend!

Ouch! Oh, Susan, I am so sorry. I don't know why these things tend to happen around important life events ... but they just do! I think sparkling tennies would be adorable!

My mother-in-law did *not* want her feet to hurt at my wedding, so while she had high-heeled, strappy, silver sandals for the wedding ceremony itself, she tucked a pair of little ballet-type flats in her purse and changed between the wedding and reception. Then she could flit around quite gracefully during the reception with no fear of tripping nor worry of tired toesies! I thought that was rather clever of her! :o)

Oh, Susan!!! I'm so sorry! Here's a true story - the night before Corin got married, the NIGHT BEFORE at like 3:00 a.m., Dani woke me up to tell me that she thought she had just broken her ankle. She had been up during the night and had tripped over Corin's other bridesmaid sleeping on the floor in the dark. The ankle was swollen and really, really sore. We decided to wait and see what it was like in the morning. Well, come morning, it was HUGE, and black and blue and the wedding was at 11:00 a.m. Instead of wearing the darling white sandles that she had shopped and shopped and shopped to find, she wore her old reliable white sneakers. Thank goodness they were clean!! Moral of the story - find shoes that you can wear with your owie toe and that are comfortable. This mother of the bride spent most of the reception in her bare feet! (blush) I'll just bet Mr. P will take you out to dinner when your toe is better and you can wear your cute silver sandals then!

Ten days - hmmm, ice packs and makeup, maybe? On the toe, I mean. Seriously, you can do wonders with sneakers. I've seen them with jewels and fu-fu glued on them for the BRIDE! Why not one of the mothers? A high school friend of mine broke her leg a week before her big, gorgeous church wedding. She came down the aisle on crutches (leg in cast!) with her father walking slightly behind her. Everyone felt such compassion for her and, yet, it was a beautiful wedding. She stood at the front as long as she could and then the couple sat in beautifully decorated chairs. Take care of yourself and be as comfortable as possible. Thankfully this didn't happen the night before the wedding. ~Adrienne~

When I broke my toe, it was longer than that before I could wear heels, so I think you should definitely do the Glue Gun Plan B.

When my daughter married, I did the heels for the wedding only, and did flats for the reception. Probably the only way I made it through the day...

Ooooow! I feel for you. Lots. I broke my toe years ago (I was still in High School) by dropping a drawer on it. And I can still remember how sore it was - not fun! The good news is that I remember being back to normal within a week and toddling off to school in my stilettoes (which shows how long ago I was in school!) so hopefully you'll heal quickly and be wearing those beautiful sandals really soon.

Oh Susan, I'm so sorry. Where the shoes for 15 minutes at the reception and then you have a good excuse to take them off and go barefoot. All the other women will be so jealous. I love the shoes.

I'm so sorry about the toe. . .I hope it feels much better soon!

I've been observing a new trend in wedding footwear. Flip-flops! Amazing, but for outdoor weddings, it seems to be quite the thing! Sun dresses or gowns, fancy suits for the guys, and flip-flops! I will admit to having not so pretty thoughts about this trend, BUT maybe, just maybe you could convert a pretty pair with sequins and trims to make something comfortable for the wedding. Hmmmm, is your dress long? Or use them as a spare when the shoes are just too much?

Let's just hope and pray your toe heals quickly!

I feel for you! I broke my toe earlier this year. Like you, I wasn't watching where I was going and slammed it into a table leg. My doctor said two things are good for this...ice and keeping your foot bound up. It will help it heal better. Try to put your foot up on a pillow and rest it as much as possible, too! Good luck...I'm sure you'll do great by the time of the wedding!

Oh, ouch! How painful!
I think I'd try to stay off it as much as possible (!) until the wedding and take alternate shoes as well.

go get some cute white canvas sneakers and thread them with silver ribbon and keep smiling!

So sorry about your toe...
I agree, sneakers with sequins would be ever so much nicer...
You could say that your toe is broke, and the "no heels" would be forgive... ;)
I was "blog surfing" and found your blog... Great place!

I broke my toe right before my wedding and had to walk down the isle in white socks with pink bows. Oh well, it was the ceremony that mattered and no one could see my feet anyway!
