Show And Tell Friday
This butterfly house was made for us by a dear friend. It has a place of honor in our backyard and can be a welcome refuge for the butterflies in the cool summer evenings. I have included the poem Butterfly Wishes with this post because I think it is so touching and beautiful.
Butterfly Wishes
Yesterday a butterfly
Came floating gently through the sky.
He soared up through the atmosphere
Then drifted close enough to hear.
I said, "I'd love to fly with you
And sail around the way you do.
It looks like it would be such fun
To fly up toward the summer sun.
But I have not your graceful charm.
I haven't wings, just these two arms.
I've been designed to walk around.
My human feet must touch the ground.
Then magically he spoke to me and told me what his wish would be.
He said, "What I'd love most to do is walk upon God's Earth with you,
To squish it's mud between my toes
Or touch my finger to my nose.
I'd love just once to walk around
With human feet to touch the ground,
But I have not two legs that swing,
I haven't arms, just these two wings."
And so we went our separate ways
In wonder and surprise.
For we'd both seen God's precious gifts
For we'd both seen God's precious gifts
Through someone else's eyes!

What a pretty butterfly house, looks so pretty in your yard too!
I've never heard of a butterfly house. I'm glad you shared it. How do they get in?
Wow, butterflies really go in? How neat is that? Thanks for sharing.
I didn't even realize there was such a thing as a butterfly house. Can't wait to show this to my husband. I'll bet he'll build one now that we know. He has built several bird houses and loves to do so.

Such a beautiful butterfly house! A friend of ours made one for us a couple of years ago but it's completely different from yours...maybe I'll show mine next Friday for Show & Tell! lol Have a terrific weekend! xox
When a gift is from a special friend it means so much. I have gifts from 20 years ago and I can tell you who they were from today..the friend makes the item so special.
How pretty, Susan!!! The poem is wonderful too! The girls and Benjamin made butterfly houses at Home Depot a few months ago but we haven't put them up. Thank you for the reminder to get them out!

This is SO pretty!!! I really love the art on the sides!!
I used to work with a lady who made beautiful birdhouses like this. I just could not see putting something that cute outside for birds to get into!! LOL!!!

OH, I am so far behind! I love this butterfly house, I bet it brings just the right touch to your backyard! I was reading through all of your posts that I've missed and that bed and breakfast was calling my name, what a wonderful getaway. I think it is awesome that you and Miss Bonnie go away on Mother/Daughter trips. Me and my mom are heading out in about 5 weeks to go find me a house, lol, but we are definately using that time to hit some shops and a few other fun things:)
I had never heard of a butterfly house. It's lovely, and that's a sweet poem.
What a special gift. Do you often see butterflys go in and out?? I've never heard of a butterfly house before.
Hey, Miss Susan P! :o)
I know I'm quite late commenting on your butterfly house (which is adorable by the way), but I'm zipping through my sidebar blogs just to say hello to some I missed at points last week! Hope you are doing well and life is treating you kindly! :o)
Blessings to you and your sweet family ~
