The Child Inside

I had one of "those" mornings today. You know, the kind where you wake up and wish you were five years old again. Fortunately, this doesn't happen too often but when it does I know that it means I need to slow down, be still for awhile, and listen to my "inner child." Many times the "child" in me is smarter than the adult "me." The child in me knows when I need to stop and take care of myself, whereas the "adult" me keeps going and going like the energizer bunny! The result? I will usually feel frazzled and very stressed out or I end up getting sick. Soooo, this morning I cuddled up in my nice cozy warm throw and sat by the fireplace. I made myself some delicious cinnamon toast and some yummy hot cocoa with LOTS of marshmallows. I enjoyed every cinnamony bite and every chocolaty sip! I believe I even had the hint of a marshmallow moustache! As much as I would like to stay in my jammies all day I know that I can't. However, my steps will be a little less hurried and I will take time to stop for awhile and take in all the wonder of this Christmas season. Do you need some cinnamon toast and hot cocoa, too? If so, make sure you "take the time" to "make the time" to sit by the fire and enjoy! I promise you will be glad you did!

My little ones made sure that we had cinnamon/sugar on peanut butter toast just minutes after finishing up with your cinnamon ornament recipe. ~ You were right. We found them fun and delightful. My little man is 1 1/2 and my little girl is almost 3. It was a great craft idea and we can't wait to deliver them to the grandparents! Thanks.

Mrs. Monise, I am sooo glad!

Carmen, I am so happy that you and your little ones enjoyed making the cinnamon ornaments! It was always a favorite with my children:) I know your children will be so PROUD to give them to their grandparents and their grandparents will be so HAPPY to receive them! YUM, I'm going to have to try the cinnamon/sugar on peanut butter toast next time!

It is so hard to make ourselves slow down and just relax -- especially at this time of year. You were wise to listen to your "inner child". :)

Cinnamon toast is one of my favorite childhood treats, that along with rice pudding and my Moms' chicken and dumplings. Nothing like comfort food when you need a little pampering!
