Courage Beyond Measure

I'm sure by now most of you that regularly read my blog know that my Mama has Alzheimers. What you don't know is that by profession my Mama is a writer. Over the years she has written about many things of interest. Her latest project will also be her last project. She is taking on the task of writing about what it feels like when you are diagnosed with Alzheimers. For her it is a mission, a mission she hopes to accomplish not only for herself but also for her family. I'm sure it will be the hardest thing she has ever had to write and I know it will most definitely be the hardest thing we have ever had to read. She is also participating in a study to help researchers find a cure for this dreaded disease. Although my Mama knows she will not benefit from the study she wants to be a part of helping those who can benefit from it one day. My Mama is my hero, she is the true embodiment of someone having courage beyond measure.

Oh, Susan, what a special thing for your mom to do for others even when she's not well. I know it will be a big accomplishment for her and a real remembrance for all of her family. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi there,

My name is RaShea, I have been so blessed by your blog. I have been reading it for a couple of weeks now, just soaking it up! Thank you so much for sharing all you do. You are such an encouragment to me!

This post made me cry! What a gift of love your mom is giving by participating in this study. Please tell her that a mother of young children thanks her! My grandmother has Alzheimers. We will be going to see her soon. I haven't seen her for a year because we live 3,000 miles away. I know she won't remember who we are, but that is OK, because we remember who she is!

Blessings,
RaShea~

Your mother's book will be important for so many people who have Alzheimers or love someone who does. My husband's grandfathers are both beginning to forget family members, where they are etc. and it is painful to see.

What a special thing your mom is doing! She sounds like a wonderful woman, and I know it hurts you to see her sick.

That is so wonderful for her to do that...although I can't imagine how hard it must be. Will the book be published, or just for the family?

Susan, Your mother is a very brave and courageous woman...what a beautiful and meaningful thing she is doing for her fellow man, participating in this study and writing about the illness. Thank you for sharing with us all.

Your mother is indeed a brave woman. She is very blessed to have you to help her through these difficult times ahead. My mother-in-law is in the advanced stages of Alzheimers. We do our best to see that she is comforted, well cared for and nurtured. Treasure every moment you have with her.

Ladies, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind and encouraging words. It is such a privilege and an honor for me to share my "sweet Mama" with all of you.

Rashea, thank you so much for your wonderfully kind words about my blog. I am so happy if I have provided you with some encouragement along the way! Your last line touched me so because it is so very true, "she won't remember who we are, but that's o.k. because we remember who she is." My feelings exactly! Thank you so much for sharing:)

Rachel, that hasn't been decided yet. If it is published I will be sure and let everyone know. My Mom has so much wisdom to share.

Praying here! My Mother in Law died from Alzheimers at a very young age (she was under 54). Also my husbands grandfather died from it as well. It's such a sad disease. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
