"The Loft"
a.k.a. The "Hangout Room!"
We live in a traditional Colonial house and we have a one car garage. Above the garage is the room we refer to as the "loft." It has the shape of a barn and is very quaint and cozy. Whenever we want to get away to read, write a letter, watch a ball game, etc.. this is the room we go to. It's "off the beaten path" of our other rooms and is the perfect room to "hang out"in. One of my favorite things about the loft is when it rains the falling rain makes the prettiest sound in that room. It's a very peaceful place to be! All I need is a good book and a cup of tea and I'm a happy girl!!
The wall color is camel and is accented with cranberry, just like my dining room. Because of the slope of the ceiling I can't really put any pictures up, but I really like it just the way it is. When my son lived here this was his room and he had about a "gagillion" (that's a Susan word!) posters on the ceiling as well as the sloped walls, but I don't think I want to be looking at cars, wrestlers, etc... all day! LOL

Heeheehee.....Well, I'd say you've reclaimed the room beautifully! I love the sound of rain. We have skylights in the schoolroom, and I love the sound of the rain hitting those.
I love your room! Red, especially cranberry, is a favourite colour of mine. I also love the idea of a get-away room.
I too enjoy the sound of rain falling --- it's so soothing.

The room does look ver cozy, I love the clock! I hope we will be able to get a metal roof (they make so they don't get rusty) so when it rains it will make that soothing sound...
What a wonderful room! I love how you have it decorated. So cozy and perfect for a cup of tea. I also love the sound of rain. And you have a coo-coo clock!!! I was just telling my friend Revee that I've been looking for one. My mom had one while we were growing up and I think they are so friendly!

I've always wanted a loft :) This looks so cozy and inviting - perfect for curling up with a book.
I think I would be curled up on the sofa quite often especially if it was raining.
I enjoyed seeing your loft and I loved the Faith, Hope, Love stacked boxes with the candle. I always enjoy your posts and pictures.
