Fall Giveaway

The country might be in the grips of a heat wave but we are going to cool down and think about Fall! Can you Hear the crunch of the leaves, Smell the apple cider, See the bright blue skies, Feel the warmth of your favorite cozy sweater, and taste the yummy goodness of pumpkin bread?? Well, just to get us all in the mood for the upcoming season (my favorite) I thought I would have another giveaway! I thought it would be interesting and fun to share ideas on how you incorporate the Fall season into the decorating of your home. The rules will be the same: In the comment section of this post all you have to do is tell us one thing you to do to incorporate the Fall season into the decorating of your home! I will leave this open for one week, which means you have until Friday, August 11. Again, Miss Bonnie will randomly draw a name, only this time there will be TWO names drawn! One grand prize and one runner up. The winners will be receiving a few small Fall goodies that they will get in the mail as soon as the contest is over. (In the picture you can see the Autumn wax melt and all I can say is, "Oh my goodness, I am already feeling cooler:) ** The goodies are not in the above picture, they are a surprise and I will post a pic. later (I'm still working on them!!)

A local church sells pumpkins in October. We buys some small ones- one for each kid- and keep them on the table. That's about the extent of our decorating with a lot of small children around. But maybe this year we will add some sunflowers to the mix! :D

My favorite fall decorating includes fall colors to the table cloth and placemats as well as fall colord candles and a mini-pumpkin on the table as well!

I love decorating for each season so for fall I have fall leaves, pumpkins, indian corn and scarecrows in every room and on both porches. Along with burning fall candles and keeping a pot of spiced cider on the back of the wood cookstove for any guests that pop in.

Oh, what fun! Fall is my very favorite season. The rich colors are a feast for the eyes!

I decorate my mantle with a garland of glass acorns. I usually do a cornucopia centerpiece on the dining table. Of course, scented candles are a must!

Blessings,
Mrs. C

We're not much for decorating. The most obvious change from summer to fall comes when we put away our ugly old propane stovetop and start using the wood cookstove again.

I usually do a centerpiece of gourds, pumpkins and fall leaves on our table, put out our "fall" flag and go to the pumpkin patch!

One thing that I do on my porch is change the flowers that I have in the crocks. I like to put mums in them. I also put out items in my home that are geared toward fall (candle rings, garland, etc.).

I wanted to share what I do for fall, but I would like to not be in the drawing this time since I was the winner last time! You are so generous, Mrs. P!!

I go overboard decorating for fall, but lest you think me a spendthrift, I have been accumulating my fall decorations for over ten years now. I decorate my mantle with mini-pumpkins, gourds and fall leaves. I hang fall garlands across the doorway to my schoolroom. The kitchen/dining table sports fall tablecloths and a cornucopia. And we usually decorate the porch with dried cornstalks and big pumpkins from the garden. I did splurge this last week (I'm getting in the fall mood, too) and bought the makings for a new fall door wreath - luscious fall shades of red, deep orange and purple!! I love fall!!!!

Fall is my favorite season, but we don't get much of it around here! I have a cute little resin angel holding a harvest of corn that I put out along with resin pumpkins and bears and silk autumn leaves. I like to do a grapevine wreath with an autumn theme for the front door. On November 1st I add my resin pilgrim set. We've lived in Europe for 13 years and when I put these things out I get especially homesick for the USA! ...but I still love them...they speak of home!

This is off topic, but I don't see any way to send an email!! I bought a tart warmer over the weekend because of your previous post, up till now I have used a candle warmer to avoid the open flame problem. Love the tart warmer, they do have a stronger fragrance!! How do you clean yours to empty and change fragrances? Just curious......
Oh, and since you live in VA, have you been to the new Yankee Candle store in Williamsburg yet??? What a place.........it is just gorgeous and you could spend hours (days!) in there.

Marie, I'm so happy to hear from you, I've missed you. My email is chicklet1958@hotmail.com if you ever need it for some reason. What I do is I take the top off where the wax is (when it's hot, just be careful:) and I pour it into a baggie, it hardens up in no time. Depending on the warmer you have you could put the part that has the wax in it (when it is cool) and pop it into the refrig. for about an hour and it should pop out right away. That's a Martha tip!! Your other question.... YES,YES,YES I have been to the Yandle Candle Mall, as a matter of fact twice. I just love it. That is where I purchased my wax melts and we also had a delicious lunch in the courtyard. The best part was the beautiful Christmas room. It was a HOT day when we went and it just made you feel cooler going in there. We were on top of the bridge and the snow started falling. AAAHHHH!!! So happy to hear from you!!

Like Mrs. Linebarger, I have been collecting my decorations for years. I have a yellow-ware bowl from my grandma, and a brown crock-bowl from my mother, and these are filled with gourds. I use silk flowers to surround them. I have a great fall tablecloth in rich jewel-ly colors of gold, russet, and purple. And Candles! I love the pumpkin/spicey/cinnamony ones best of all! We also do real pumpkins on the porch. I would decorate on August 1st if I could, but I try to wait till the end of the month, near my birthday.

Like apron thrift girl, we have a nature table. We bring in colored leaves, rocks, pinecones and lots of acrons from our fall walks around the neighborhood and arrange them on our small table.
I also like to buy a big bale of hay, put it in my front yard and place pumpkins on it.
I love fall!

I have a medium-large cloth stuffed pumpkin I bought at a craft show for a couple of dollars years ago. I bring it out each year in September and surround it with 2 other smaller pumpkins on each side--all in different fabrics. They are beautiful. A couple of winters ago I found a table of fall items 75% off at a craft store and purchased a shimmery orange beaded wreath (very different looking!) that I put down on the table surrounding the fabric pumpkin. It makes a gorgeous centerpiece. A small plaque that says, "Share the Harvest" is also included hanging around one of the twined beaded strands on the wreath. I can't wait until Sept to bring it out again. :)

I love to grow white pumpkins and put one atop the black urn on my foyer dresser. Sometimes I take an orange pumpkin, hollow it out and fill it with a container of fresh flowers~a great centerpiece. A few years back I took a bag of acorns I had collected, drilled a hole through each, threaded them onto some wire and made a small wreath to hang.

Ah, fall is my favorite season!! I love it!! Here in the Midwest, the beauty of the changing leaves is absolutely breathtaking! I love the crisp feel in the air....
As for decorating, I use pumpkins, leaves, gourds, bittersweet, scented candles....... I have a little light-up autumn village I place on the mantel. This year I will have a fall tree -- indoors -- for the first time (artificial holiday tree with autumn decor and lights)!
I enjoyed reading what you all shared about your fall decor!

since my living room is already done in Hunter green and is decorated with sunflowers, fall decorating is a snap!

1. I hot glue Indian corn to some raffia and use that as tie backs for my curtains.

2. I add garland of fall leaves and sunflowers as curtain toppers.

3. I add a centerpiece of sunflowers, mums & dried leaves to my table (in my antique water pitcher). This is added on top of a fall colored table cloth & runner. I then add some little pumpkins that I've made into candle holders.

4. I add a fall themed wreath to my front door and decorate the porch with pumpkins, gords, haybales, sunflowers and some cute little scarecrows...I even have some wooden crows I set around.

5. I change out my summer throw on the couch to one that's thicker and warmer that's done in fall colors and to that add some fall colored pillows.

I guess that's about it! LOL!! I really like fall :)

Ladies, I thank you ALL so much for your wonderful decorating ideas for Fall. I know for myself I have a few new ideas I will be trying:) Y'all, I really do wish I could make everyone a wreath but I just can't. Look at it this way, you might not have won a wreath but I hope at least you will come away with some new decorating ideas! (Said Susan who is trying to put a positive spin on it!) I think we will have do this for Christmas as well!
