Friday Favorite
Antique Spoons
As you can see I have a collection of antique spoons. Every spoon has a special meaning to me because each one was owned by someone I love. I have spoons from my great grandmother, my grandmother, my mother, and I even have my Mom's baby spoon as well as my own childrens. I try and polish them once a month. All I do is put aluminum foil in the bottom of my kitchen sink, sprinkle generous amounts of baking soda and salt, lay spoons down and then add boiling water. Let sit for about 5 minutes, "swishing" the water occasionally with a wooden spoon. I find this works perfectly. Some of the spoons will never shine but I really don't want them to because the tarnish gives them such a well-worn and well- loved look! After all, they are antiques! My mind often wanders to a time long ago when these spoons were lovingly used by my family. I guess they make me happy because it's like the love is being passed down the generations!

I LOVE antique spoons, too! Yours look so pretty, and I love that they all have a "meaning" behind them! Thanks for sharing!
Yay. I guessed that this would be your Friday favorite. :) I can see why, too, they're lovely and very meaningful.
Jennifer, you are welcome!! I got to thinking that most of the things in my home do have some sentimental meaning, I just love having all the good memories surrounding me!
Lisa, you are so funny!!!! You sound just like me!! I would have been "scanning" the picture wondering what the favorite thing was going to be. A girl after my own heart!
