Celebration Tree ~ January



Most of you know that each month I decorate a small tree to represent the holiday/theme for that month. I started doing this several Januarys ago after I had taken all of our Christmas items down. Our house just looked so empty and bare on the inside, and it did on the outside, too. Typically, January days in Virginia are very dark, dreary, and cold. Needless to say it can start to be a little depressing after awhile. So, I brought in the little lighted tree I had out on my front porch in hopes it would bring some life back into our home. I didn't want anything too big, just something little I could put in our "foyer" that would add a little sparkle and shine to an otherwise dreary month. I think it's such a nice, cheerful way to greet family and friends! My family even looks forward to the beginning of the month to see what I'll come up with next! A Fun Afternoon!

Miss Bonnie and I decided to do some "crafting" this afternoon and we had "snow" much fun! LOL Now, when Miss Bonnie and I "craft" y0u have to watch out because there is glue and glitter flying everywhere ~ truly, I am not kidding!! I decided that since the house looked so bare without the Christmas decorations that I would make a SNOW banner to hang on the mantel. Tomorrow Miss Bonnie will share what she made. Here's a little hint: it has something to do with something she collects, but it is NOT teacups!

I also want to send a big thank you to my sweet Miss Bonnie for changing my blog again for me. She always changes it with such a cheerful attitude and a sweet smile even when I change my mind MANY times about the graphics, etc.. I want to use. I just want her to know how much I appreciate all of tremendous amount of patience she shows this non "techy" Mama!

A Few Of My Favorite Things!

This is a little winter vignette that graces that top of our piano. It contains three of my favorite things: baskets, candles, and bears! The candle was given to me by my almost daughter-in-love who knows I adore candles! The scent is Jack Frost which is a wonderful "minty" smell! I wish y'all could smell it, Mmmm! The basket was given to me by my dear friend D who I have talked about before, and Miss Bonnie got me the snow bear! Whenever I walk by the piano I get a little smile on my face because not only do I love these things, they remind me of the people that I love!

Ribbon Magic Part 3!



For those of you who read my blog regularly you know that I like to decorate seasonally. I try to come up with inexpensive ways to "bring the seasons" into my home. I like to take a basic pillow and "tie" it up like a present to celebrate each season and holiday. Here I have taken some leftover ribbon from this and then just added a snowflake ornament that is "peeking" out from underneath! Total cost of pillow? Nothing!! Using that same pillow I made a Fall pillow that can be found here and a Christmas pillow which can be found here. What kind of "ribbon magic" can you come up with?

Like a lot of the country we here in Virginia are experiencing much higher that normal temperatures. Today it is a glorious 75 degrees with a gentle breeze and bright blue sky. If it keeps this up I am going to have to bring my snowflake flag in because it looks downright silly flying out there. I think I will have to replace it with my daffodil flag! LOL

Isn't the blue sky just beautiful??

We haven't needed hats or gloves so I decided to put them on the sled!
