I "Spy" Spring!
Peering through my kitchen window
A hint of yellow appearing like a ray of golden sunshine
Amongst the cold, brown earth.
It's frilly little head lifting it's head up high
Offering a cheery "hello."
Squeals of delight.
Surely, this is what hope must look like!
*What an appropriate last post for me, because daffodils are my very favorite flower! To me, not only are they beautiful, but they also represent happiness and joy, which is what I wish for each one of you!
Much love,
Susan P.

"Grand" Baby Love
I’ve never even held you
Or seen your precious face
But in my heart you hold
A most important place.

I’ve never kissed your sweet soft cheeks
Or sung a lullaby
While rocking you quietly in the chair
So you will not cry.

I haven’t held your tiny hands
Or counted your little toes
Nor smelled your sweet baby breath
And kissed you on the nose.

I haven’t looked into your eyes
Their color I haven’t a clue
I wonder if they’ll be big and bright
Brown, or green, or blue.

I also sometimes wonder
If you’ll have hair upon your head
And the color it will be
Either blonde, brown, black, or red.

Will your hair be curly
Or straight as straight can be
You might not even have any hair
I’ll have to wait and see!

I don’t know who you’ll look like
Among all our family
Maybe your Mom, or maybe your Dad
Or maybe even ME!

Over these months I’ll be dreaming
About your arrival day
The first time I hold you in my arms
What I’ll do and what I’ll say.

One thing is for certain
When I see you face to face
The love that I will feel for you
Can never be replaced.

Because I am your grandmother
And you, my little one
Are the precious little child
Of my precious grown-up son.
Love always, Nana :o)

Dear friends,

The Lord has placed this on my heart to write and I wanted to share it with you ~ especially being mindful of those of us who are suffering through some serious trials in their lives right now.

Oh, these dark, dark days of winter
Seem to last so long
Oh, how I wish that it were spring
And I could hear the robin’s song.

Blue skies would chase the clouds away
And the sun would sweetly shine
Gentle breezes would blow upon my back
Oh my, it sounds so fine.

And the sleepy little bulbs
Would wake and start to rise
Their pretty little heads
Up towards the bright blue skies.

As much as I would love
For Spring to come again
I trust that the Lord above
Has the perfect plan.

You see, it’s through those dark, cold days
When hope seems all but gone
The Lord will place inside my heart
A most wonderful glorious song.

The melody is beautiful
And the words are oh, so sweet
Don’t you know my precious child
That’s when we need to meet?

For although I can’t take away
All the storms of life
I will carry you lovingly through
Your worries and your strife.

Just put your trust in me, dear one
And hand in hand we’ll go
Through the storms together
The wind, and cold, and snow.

And although you might not understand
Why you must weather the awful storm
One thing is for certain
I'll always keep you warm.

Please know I’ll never leave your side
In good times and in bad
No matter what the day
Whether you’re happy or you’re sad.

You see, it’s through the trials of life
I'm here to see you through
Although I cannot always turn
Your gray skies into blue.

It is me and me alone
Who can put spring back in your heart
Just put your faith and hope in me
And Spring will never depart.

The storms can be raging all around
The cold and rain and snow
You feel you're barely hanging on
But I promise to never let you go.

And as a little reminder
I have placed below the ground
A sleepy little bulb

That doesn't make a sound.

But soon enough it will awake
And slowly start to rise
It's pretty sleepy little head
Up towards the bright blue skies!

All Creatures Great And Small
A "Backyard" Tale

There was a little birdie who fell out of his nest
Once down upon the ground he tried his very best. . . . .
To flap his wings and fly but he couldn't pass the test!

This sweet little birdie was as innocent as could be
He didn't know the dangers, he didn't know to flee.

He came upon a human who tried to figure what to do
The birdie thought him friendly so he hopped upon his shoe.

He wondered where his Mama was, oh how he missed her so.
He wanted so to see her he just didn't know how to go.

The human tried and tried to think of how to help
And so for his family, he hollered and he yelped.

So they put their heads together and devised a little plan
Could they teach this birdie how to fly, after all they were just mere man?

They would try to "scoop" the birdie up and hold him in the air

And gently toss him towards the sky but he didn't have the flair . . .

To flap his wings and fly, he just wasn't aware.
And now the human family was feeling much despair.

They came to the conclusion that if the birdie couldn't get off the ground
To his nest they would deliver him where he'd be safe and sound.

The birdie sensed their kindness and willingly obliged
He hopped upon the lid and settled in for the ride.

Up upon the ladder the human and birdie went
The birdie trusting all the way while they made the big ascent.

When finally he arrived to the door of his home
The chirping of the other birds let him know he wasn't alone.

He was accepted happily back into his little nest
And once he settled in he'd surely take a rest.

He'd been on a big adventure and come face to face with man
And saw first hand the love of God and how he'd had a plan.

You see, God knows even when the sparrow falls from the tree
So he put the human in his path so he'd help him don't you see?

God surely does love all creatures great and small
And that was why the human was there when the birdie took the fall!

A PLACE CALLED HOME

When I was trying to come up for a name for my blog home I started thinking about my own home. I started asking myself, what really makes a house a home? Whenever I think of the word "home" I think of my grandparents house. Entering in you could almost feel the love wrapping you up like a cozy blanket. That was the best feeling in the world and one I hope my family will always feel about our "home." When my grandparents left I had to go and pack up their house. I remember feeling such emptiness and lonliness because although all the "things" were still there my beloved grandparents were not, and they were the ones that made it home, without them it was just four walls. It is because of that that I lovingly dedicate this poem to them:

The fireside glow has lost it's charm
Without some hands to keep so warm.
And no one to see the flickering light
To marvel in it's beautiful sight.

The apron sits hanging on it's hook
But serves no purpose without the cook.
No loving hands to bake the bread
No one to sit down and bow their heads.

The piano stands silent alone in the room
Because there's no one there to play a nice tune.
It yearns to play a sweet melody
But unfortunately I'm sorry that it's not to be.

The clock on the wall no longer tells time
There's no one there to hear it's nice chime.
No one to care if it's morning or night
The key needs a hand to wind it tight.

The rocking chair sits quiet and still
Longing for someone to "sit for a spell."
"Come rock me" it says and "tell a good yarn"
Or rock a sweet babe so it won't be alarmed.

The bible sits unopened by the bed
There's no one there for it to be read.
Or prayer and praises lifting high
Or songs being sung of the sweet by and by.

Over in the corner is the down featherbed
But there's no one there to lay down their sweet head.
The quilts are piled "oh so deep"
But no one is there to fall fast asleep.

There's no loving smile as you enter the door
No arms to embrace, to hug and adore.
The door's still the same and the welcome mat's out
But it's the people within that I'm talking about.

It's the people who make up the heart of the home
And when they are gone it's a house all alone.
The laughter and tears, the joy and the pain
Are all only memories that can remain.

But tucked in my heart and always will be
A lesson was learned as now I do see.
A house is made of brick and stone
It's the love inside that makes it a home.

I LOVE YOU GRAMMY AND GRANDADDY. THANK YOU!
